Disability Benefits

Short Term Disability

Immediately after an accident or after 8 consecutive days of sickness or other disability, the employee may apply for Short-Term Disability (STD). The employee's salary will be paid at 50% of base salary, retroactively from the time taken off due to the disability. EIS provides this program to each of its employees. Approval is needed by your doctor and EIS management.

Long Term Disability

After 90 days of disability, the employee will apply for Long-Term Disability Benefits (LTD). Upon acceptance, the employee will receive 60% of base salary, up to a maximum monthly benefit of $6,000. Benefits are integrated with Social Security and Worker's Compensation. Other limitations may apply. Coverage is provided via MetLife at no cost to the employee. Limitations due to pre-existing conditions may apply. The EIS/MetLife policy defines the terms of Long Term Disability. Upon termination of employment, this coverage might be convertible to private coverage. Refer to your Certificate of Benefits or The employee may contact MetLife for more information.
