DAC FTP Interface
This was a project developed for Roberts Express to automate the request for
and processing of the responses to trucker driver motor vehicle background
checks. Originally this process entailed Safety agents interacting with an
stand-alone PC application to request background checks from a third party
service provider: DAC Services of Tulsa, OK. To streamline the process, hooks
were added to the existing Enterprise Safety and Recruiting application to allow
agents to queue requests from their individual workstations. A background
process was introduced to periodically build request files, establish a dial-up
TCP/IP bridge to DAC and transfer the request files for processing. Response
files were also transferred back. To further improve the flow, clean responses
were automatically processed and the Enterprise System was updated without the
need for further human intervention. Furthermore, response reports that came
back requiring manual review were feed directly into a document imaging
application and handled as part of the existing recruitment process. An even
bigger improvement was added when a regular batch process was introduced to
make periodic requests for existing drivers.
