   Masterkey XML Interface
This was a project developed for MasterKey.com which has subsequently been acquired by the Public Storage Corporation of Glendale California. The intent was to link the Masterkey consumer-oriented web site with the backend functionality of internet transportation broker Freightquote.com. The Masterkey Order Entry site needed to include, as part of its real-time interaction with potential customers, pricing and logistics information provided by Freightquote through various remotely accessible services. Communication with these services took the form of remote socket based data exchanges with XML as the underlying encoding approach. EIS developed the Masterkey web pages in a combination of J2EE servlets and JSPs. Parts of the servlet logic included real-time calls to Freightquote's system with additional provisions made to have fallback logic in the event the service was for some reason unavailable. The result was a system that appears to Masterkey customers to be a single unified source and allowed the two companies to work together without a handful of people behind the scenes shuffling paper to make it work.
