Qualcomm OmniTracs Satellite Integration
Developed for Roberts Express, this project resulted in a robust interface
connecting the Roberts Express Order Entry and Logistics System with the system
at Qualcomm for communicating with the onboard satellite terminals deployed in
all Robert Express trucks. The two-way synchronous interface provided a
real-time link between to the two systems. Designed to allow messages flowing
both directions to be exchanged on a single line or to segregate outbound
traffic from inbound traffic on different lines, the system provided optimum
scalability and redundancy. With this interface, background business logic
could be deployed to allow much of the communication of dispatch, arrival and
departure events to be handled completely automatically thus greatly reducing
staffing requirements for service agent who now only need to respond to
exception events.
